Thyroid status in pregnant women with pregnancy induced hypertension – A case control study

Introduction: Pregnancy induced hypertension (PIH) is an important cause of maternal and fetal morbidity mortality affecting 5-10% pregnancies. PIH more frequently associated with elevated TSH (Thyroid-stimulating hormone). Thyroid dysfunction plays role in the development gestational hypertension. However, this relationship remains unclear. The study was performed to evaluate thyroid status pregnant women normal women. Methodology: This a hospital based observational case control done Dr M K Shah Medical College, Ahmedabad. Total 100 were included, out them 50 included group normotensive healthy group. After taking written consent, profile (TSH, free T3 T4) measured all subjects. Results: Women had higher levels lower T4 as compared There significant association between hypothyroidism cases. positive correlation systolic BP (r=0.42) diastolic (r=0.52). Conclusion: are at greater risk decreased function. Therefore, should be monitored for regularly.
